MAMAK'S FOOD

Mamak...teh tarik satu!! This is a situation that is always happening in our beloved country. Hang out at mamak’s stall have become a routine for some people. There are a various types of mamak’s food and almost all Malaysian simply love them. Their foods are unique and delicious. Besides that their price also are affordable. Mamak’s stall also one of the best place to hang out together with friend. I think mamak’s foods is become a culture for Malaysian. We can see that mamak’s food have become phenomena to Malaysian and there are many of mamak’s stalls in Malaysia that can compete with other standard restaurant.  Now, I want to introduce the mamak’s food that is very popular among Malaysian.

First is teh tarik. It is a hot tea drink that is very popular and preferable in mamak’s stall. You must not miss it when you go to mamak’s stall. Their teh tarik are very ‘kaw’ and special. It is made from tea and milk.

The complement for teh tarik is Roti canai . When we talk about roti canai I am sure all Malaysian know about it. It also one of favourite food of Malaysian. I am sure many of Malaysian is really like it. It is suitable for breakfast. Usually it is serving with curry, dhal, or both of them. Roti telur is a roti canai that is added with eggs.

  Thosai is in the same category with roti canai. It is made from rice batter and orad bean. It is crepe-look-alike. They are many types of Thosai such as Thosai masala, rawa, onion, eggs and many more. Each of them has their own unique taste. It also suitable for breakfast or supper. Usually, it will be served together with the coconut, curry and dhal. It price is around RM1.5O and above depends on their type.

Other types of bread are chapatti. It also one of popular dishes. It is bread that is made from whole-wheat flour and cook in ‘tava’. It is a healthy food and suitable consumed during breakfast. The price is almost same with thosai and roti canai and they are in same categories. Usually it is served with curry and dhal.
        

The other type of food is Nasi Kandar. It is originated and very popular dishes in Penang. It is the rice that is serves with fried chicken (tandoori chicken) , fried prawn, brinjal or other depends on our tastes and preferences. It also must be serves together with mixture of curry sources. It is very suitable for lunch or dinner.

The other popular mamak’s food is rojak mamak. It contain fried dough fritters, bean curds, boiled potatoes, prawn fritters, hard boiled eggs, bean sprouts and cucumber mixed with sweet trick and  spicy peanut sauce

Their famous deserts are ais kacang and cendol. It is very suitable during hot day.



Mee goreng mamak also very popular among Malaysian. It is different from the other fried mee.

The other types of mamak’s food are Roti Bom, Roti tisu, Roti Naan and tandoori chicken, curry and pappadom. Pappadom is just like a snack and it suitable for crunching.
